There are quite a few books that will become movies in 2015. If you're a reader, like me, then you already know about a few of them. Of course, there's always the concern that the movies won't be as good as the books, but let's not worry about that yet! Let's just be excited that there are so many great books that will become movies in 2015.
One of the most anticipated of all the books that will become movies in 2015 is definitely 50 Shades of Grey. This is one of those books that you either love or hate. If you're one of the people who love it, you're probably counting down the days until this movie comes out. The movie stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson and will follow their relationship based on the the first book in this best selling series.
2 Insurgent
We all loved Divergent when it came out, so now we get to follow this trilogy in the new year! Shailene Woodley and Theo James will return to the big screen to continue this amazing adventure. I don't know about you, but I'm really excited for this movie! If you've read the book you know it's filled with action and picks up the pace from Divergent. Even if you haven't read the book, this is one for you to look out for.
3 Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
Whether or not you read the book, if you're a Tim Burton fan you need to see this movie. He's a genius when it comes to the weird and creepy and that's exactly what this book is! If you haven't read the book it's a story that combines fantasy, photography, and adventure. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is a book that people everywhere know and love, so maybe it's time for you to pick it up before you rush out and see the movie next year!
4 The Jungle Book
Everyone knows the Disney version of The Jungle Book, but this is a new take on a classic. This rendition will star big Hollywood names such as Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, and Bill Murray. It's time to start getting excited to tap back into your childhood with this movie. A lot of people have never actually read this book, including myself, so I think it's time we all read it before we see the movie. If you don't want to read it, it's a good excuse to watch an old favorite!
5 Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Starring Lena Headey, Lily James, and Matt Smith, this is a movie I can't wait to see! If you love classic novels and zombies, then you should have read this book! If you didn't, don't worry there's still time. A fun twist on a classic novel, this book follows Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, but throws in zombies! It's always great to see an old concept rethought, so it will be great to see how this plays out on the big screen.
6 Frankenstein
We all know this story, whether we've read it, seen it, or just heard it. This is a famous classic that is no stranger to the movie theater. The new movie stars Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy, which is definitely a great start to anything! The only problem with rethinking such a major classic is that it's been done before. Will this rendition be better or worse than any of the previous movies? I guess we'll have to wait and find out.
7 The Adderall Diaries
The Adderall Diaries stars James Franco and Amber Heard, two people that we all know and love. Well, maybe we don't all love James Franco, but a lot of us do! If you haven't heard about this book before now, The Adderall Diaries is a memoir about a murder trial, a man with writer's block, and a serious Adderall addiction. How it all plays out is what you have to wait to find out whether you read the book or wait to see the movie.
8 Mockingjay Part 2
The Hunger Games trilogy has taken over the world! One of the best dystopian YA novels out there, this final installment is highly anticipated. Anyone that hasn't read the book is just racking their brain trying to figure out how this amazing story will end. The people who have read this book are warning those people that they're going to walk out of the theater crying! Nevertheless we can't wait to see how Jennifer Lawrence pulls off the intense acting needed to complete this brilliant story.
9 The Scorpio Races
This best seller is finally coming to the big screen! Another great dystopian novel, The Scorpio Races tells the story of a race that occurs every year where riders attempt to stay on their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. The races involve a lot of danger which means that not everyone survives. It will be amazing to see how this story plays out in a movie. This is definitely one of the books that could either be a hit or miss in movie form.
10 Brooklyn
This is a classic story of immigrants in America. The main character Ellis, who will be played by Saoirse Ronan, is an immigrant from Ireland. She leaves behind her mother and sister to find work and love in America. Unfortunately, she receives devastating news that means she has to return home and leave behind her new life. Brooklyn sounds like it can be an incredible movie and I, for one, can't wait to see how it turns out.
There are so many great movies coming out next year and this list only scratches the surface! Readers have a love hate relationship with movies based on books, so let's hope these turn out as good as we hope they do. Which movies based on a book are you looking forward to most?
