If you are anything like me, you are peeing your pants with excitement for these new Disney movies. Disney movies have always held a special place in my heart, even as an adult. They never fail to create inspiring and incredible stories and they are at it again with these upcoming movies. There are adventures, love stories, and fairy tales that we all have to look forward to. So mark your calendar for these incredible new Disney movies that are bound to hold a special place in your heart.
1. Frozen
This is one of the most anticipated new Disney movies because it is coming out pretty soon, November 27 to be exact. After a witch casts a winter spell on her kingdom, Anna, her sister, goes on a quest to save the kingdom. It doesn't sound super different from many other adventure movies, but what separates this movie is the incredible, yet not all-star, cast. Rather than cast a huge list of A-list stars, Disney went towards some lesser know, but incredibly talented actors. Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad are just a few of the incredible actors to headline this inspiring Disney movie.
2. Maleficent
I love it when Disney takes classic fairy tales and turns them on their head. They are up to it again in Maleficent, which is coming out in 2014. It takes the story of Sleeping Beauty but tells it from the perspective of the villain Maleficent. If the storyline isn't enough to entice you, it has Angelina Jolie playing the title character and Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora. Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorite Disney princess movies so I am very excited to see how they will tell the story from a new perspective.
3. Into the Woods
Sticking with classic fairy tales, Into the Woods combines all of your favorite characters into one story. It has Hansel & Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Cinderella, and even Rapunzel. You know you are not going to want to miss Into the Woods when you hear its incredible cast, including Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, and Johnny Depp. Oh, and they all sing. Unfortunately you have to wait until December 2014 to see this awesome new Disney movie.
4. Cinderella
We all know and love the original animated Cinderella, but I have a feeling the live-action remake will be one of the best new Disney movies to come. It takes the story to a new, deeper level and I expect it will capture the emotion of the characters in a way the animated film never did. Cinderella is also directed by Kenneth Branagh, aka the director of Thor and Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter. Like most other Disney movies, this film includes some A-listers, such as Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter. Too bad that we have to wait until March of 2014 to see this incredible remake.
5. Star Wars Episode VII
I was borderline devastated when I heard that Disney bought Lucas Films and decided to make a new Star Wars film. I had always loved the original Star Wars and the prequel episodes were pushing it for me. But I decided to give Disney a chance with this one and wait until it comes out to make my judgments. Not much is known about Episode VII except that it will be directed by J.J. Abrams and released sometime in mid-2015. Until then, we are left with speculation.
6. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
I would say that Disney is milking this series for all it's worth if it wasn't such an amazing series. Johnny Depp reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the 5th installment in the Pirates series. Since it isn't being released until 2016, not many of the details have been released. However, rumor has it that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are in talks to make a reappearance as their original characters of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann.
7. The Good Dinosaur
Have you ever wondered what would life be like if the dinosaurs never went extinct? Well, Disney and Pixar are answering that question for you in their 2015 movie The Good Dinosaur. It tells the story of Arlo, a friendly dinosaur, and his friendship with a human named Spot. You know that, as a Pixar movie, The Good Dinosaur will be filled with love and laughter.
8. Inside out
Another Pixar movie, Inside Out is a unique film where each character represents a different emotion. The entire film is told from the perspective of the emotions of a little girl. You know it is going to be hilarious when you hear the cast. It is headlined with comedians like Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, and Mindy Kaling. This unique and one of a kind movie won't be in theatres until June 2015.
9. Finding Dory
The only person more excited for Finding Dory than I am is Ellen DeGeneres herself. The plot is not known yet since the movie will not be released until 2016, but you know it is going to be absolutely hilarious. Even if Ellen DeGeneres improvised the entire script, it would be hilarious. So, while we have to wait more than 2 years to see Finding Dory, that just gives you more and more time to get more excited about how awesome this movie is going to be.
The magic behind Disney movies is that they make me feel like a child again. Even as a college student, I love to curl up and watch Disney movies. I am so excited to add these new Disney movies to my list of favorites and I will most likely be at the midnight premiere for all of these. Are you excited for these new Disney movies? Are there any other upcoming Disney movies that you are excited for? What makes Disney movies so incredible and enjoyable?
