So you don't really go to the movies to see shoes but when a fabulous pair crops up you really can't fail to sit up and take notice. There aren't many that fit this bill the bill that says, these are a pair of shoes you won't forget in a hurry but there sure are some that deserve the title of Iconic Shoes in the Movies.

1. Ruby Slippers the Wizard of Oz (1939)

Arguably the most famous pair of shoes in the movies, the ruby slippers given to Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz have become almost a symbol of Hollywood and the golden age of American cinema. The immortal line there's no place like home' is quoted across the world, and the actual slippers Judy Garland wore have become a popular tourist attraction touring around different museum exhibitions.

2. Glass Slipper Cinderella (1950)

The sparkling glass slipper in Disney's 1950 animated adaptation of the classic fairy tale Cinderella is certainly one of the most memorable shoes in movie history. The only link between Prince Charming and the downtrodden Cinderella, the slipper acts as the catalyst to helping the two characters find each other once again and live happily ever after.

3. Breakfast at Tiffany's (1960)

Though legendary actress Audrey Hepburn was well known to prefer ballet flats to stilettos, as Holly Golightly in the classic film Breakfast At Tiffany's her stylish, sophisticated black heels became a trademark of the character, becoming synonymous with effortless glamour alongside her pearl necklace and vintage cigarette holder. The look transcended cinema and it still as stylish today as it looked in 1960.

4. Barbarella (1968)

Jane Fonda became an instant sex symbol as the scantily clad protagonist fighting to protect the galaxy in 1968's Barbarella. Though her character's costume didn't amount to much fabric at all, one thing that did stand out was her amazing, eye catching silver knee high boots. The boots provided a really futuristic feel to the costume and Jane Fonda certainly knew how to wear them with beauty and authority!

5. Pretty Woman (1990)

Another set of knee high boots that have become a stand out symbol of film history are the shiny black leather boots worn by Julia Roberts in the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman. As prostitute Vivian in this modern take on Cinderella, the glass slipper is replaced with a fierce leather boot, and the choice of footwear tells us so much about her feisty character before we even really know her.

6. Kill Bill (2003)

Rather than making the main character sexy or cute, Quentin Tarantino's 2003 film Kill Bill gave Uma Thurman's character a pair of shoes that helped to be the butt-kicking, sword wielding action hero that we all loved. Thurman's The Bride' sports an awesome pair of yellow Asics sneakers to match her yellow tracksuit, and this outfit became synonymous with a strong, in control woman who has a mission and will stop at nothing until she gets the justice she deserves!
