7 Amazing TV Shows for Hiatus Season ...
Finding good TV shows for hiatus season are few and far between. Sometimes however, you find a gem that you want to scream your praises of from the rooftops of any and every building that will let you. Thanks to the Internet, no screaming from rooftops is necessary, and instead, I can sing the praises of my new favorite TV shows for hiatus season. After you run out of past seasons of your favorite shows to binge-watch, look no further than this list to keep you entertained for the duration of the worst season ever.
1. Playing House
Playing House is, without a doubt, one of my favorite TV finds of the year, regardless of the fact that it's one of the best TV shows for hiatus season. How often do we see strong female friendships portrayed not only realistically, but also hilariously? If you're not watching Playing House yet, drop everything and binge-watch the first few episodes, but not until you're done reading this. You won't regret it, and you may even find your new favorite show.
2. Girl Meets World
Children of the 90s rejoice: Girl Meets World, Boy Meets World's much-anticipated spin off, is finally here. While some may argue that it's been less than two years since the announcement, I think it's safe to say that most of us have been waiting for this spinoff since the show went off the air in 2000. Even if you've grown out of the Disney Channel, this show is definitely worth watching. Riley, Cory and Topanga's daughter, is such a good mix of both of them that sometimes it's eerie.
3. Melissa and Joey
Melissa and Joey, although not completely a summer hiatus show, does spend more time airing during the summer than other regular season shows. This show doesn't get nearly enough credit, in my opinion. It's a modern-day Who's the Boss, with a much more rewarding will they/won't they scenario. Sometimes it feels like we're still waiting for Tony and Angela to get together, yet in a few weeks Mel and Joe will walk down the aisle.
4. Louie
If you're not acquainted with Louie just yet, spend your next day off binge-watching a few episodes on Netflix. I say a few episodes, but you'll probably find yourself addicted after those few episodes. Louie is finally back after a yearlong hiatus. Rejoice in the fact that at least one of your shows is not on hiatus right now!
5. Inside Amy Schumer
Sometimes I want to scold people who have never watched Inside Amy Schumer, but then I remember that it took me just as long to find it myself. You've probably heard of Amy Schumer at one point or another, but if you're not acquainted with her show yet, it's definitely one to check out. There are a few episodes of the season left, but you can always binge-watch the rest of the series over the summer!
6. The Maya Rudolph Show
Maya Rudolph's first episode of her new show made quite the splash on social media. Although they've only filmed one episode, it's something fresh that we haven't seen in years. Considering she brought on her SNL friends, it does feel a little bit like an SNL reunion, but it's still an amazing show with a concept we haven't seen in years.
7. Undateable
If you're trying to fill the How I Met Your Mother shaped hole in your heart, this may do the trick. Undateable is a typical sitcom about friends, however during hiatus season, a time with very few shows to choose from, this does the trick.
What are you watching during hiatus season? My favorite is definitely Playing House. I can barely articulate how much I love that show right now. Let me know your favorites in the comments, I'm always looking for new shows to watching during hiatus season!
